The Challenge.

They were a growing scale up business in their eighth year of operation with subsidiaries across multiple international territories. Until this point they had relied upon external accounting and auditing functions, but had no distinguished financial expertise in-house. As they began working on funding proposals and engaging with venture capital firms, it became clear that no-one in their team could provide the high-level financial information that was required. The Directors knew that they needed CFO-level expertise to take them to the next stage, but the business wasn’t yet ready for a full-time hire.

The Approach.

When the business Director first made contact with The CFO Centre, they were in a position where they knew where they needed assistance but weren’t sure what an engagement would look like. It was an important factor to have the right CFO matched to their business, based on experience and cultural fit. Our Regional Director took the time to ensure that the client understood their options; the flexibility in how many days per month would be required and how this aligned to their budgets. The CFO grasped the complexity of their structure very quickly, and understood where his experience would add value and take them closer to their goals.

The CFO Centre’s Solution.

Our CFO, Dinesh, started working with this client in May 2025. The engagement process began with a deep-dive “discovery day” which was the catalyst for Dinesh to compile their Priority Plan – looking forward to the next 3 to 12 months strategically.

One of the key starting points was for the team to introduce Dinesh to their venture capital funders as their Principal CFO. Dinesh then carried those relationships forward with confidence to ensure a smooth journey for all parties. Dinesh was instrumental in developing long-term forecasts, budgets and consolidated reporting across 5 jurisdictions. This also involved implementing financial automation across the Group; linking their systems, processes and reporting to work synonymously. Dinesh met with the Directors weekly in person, whilst also working closely with the company’s external accountant and bookkeeper. “The relationship was at exactly the right temperature – professional, informed and reliable”

One of the business’ goals was to get to the point where they could sustainably afford a full-time resource. Dinesh assisted the team through the job description and recruitment process; understanding exactly what they would need moving into the future.

“From the beginning, the process was seamless. We would happily refer The CFO Centre to others in our network.”
