The challenge.
Despite having a successful business that was taking on some large contracts, the team were struggling to scale the business profitably. They were experiencing some challenges with having “too many chefs in the kitchen”, so really needed assistance in navigating the exit of a shareholder to stabilise the leadership team. Founder and Managing Director, Aidan Kuzmich,
explained how they were rolling week to week, didn’t have a full understanding of their financials
and this led to a lot of stress in the leadership team.
The approach.
When Aussie Buckets first engaged with The CFO Centre, it was really important for them to gain a
clearer understanding of their financials. They had a fantastic product that was selling well, but they were facing debts and losing sleep.
They really needed guidance in re-structuring the business, which is where their CFO, Mark Whitaker, stepped in. Mark got under the hood of the business, reviewing where adjustments could be made (which has since allowed their business to grow on a massive scale).
Starting from zero capital, Aidan and his partners funded the business from scratch. So scaling the
business profitably while retaining the core value of the business was really important to them.
The CFO Centre’s solutions.
Mark Whitaker started working with Aussie Buckets in 2024 as their fractional CFO. Aidan and the team now feel confident in their 3 year growth plan, they are enjoying their business again and will take their well-earned dividends at the end of the year. Mark assisted Aidan and the team in stripping back their significant outgoings; restructuring their priorities and providing them with total financial clarity that they were previously lacking. “Mark has been the biggest advocator of ensuring that we get the most out of our business, personally and professionally”.
The CFO Centre have introduced trusted insurance and software partners into the business to support
them with their compliance, reporting and operational needs. While their tax accountant plays
a vital role, Mark has been able to tap into key relationships to access funding and build out a clear strategic plan for 3 years and beyond that they are all clear on. Aidan now fully understands every line of the forecast, budget and P&L.
If there’s one thing Aidan would recommend to businesses finding it tough, particularly those in the $5m bracket and above, would be to engage a fractional CFO to help them intrinsically understand their numbers, streamline reporting and scale business growth.
